Johnannes GARBER2442 died in 1787 in , Shenandoah, VA. Johannes Garber landed in America on 2 September 1749 aboard the ship Albany. He resided in York County, Pennsyalvania, first. Then, he moved to Beaver Dam, Maryland, before settling in Flat Rock, Virginia in 1775. Johannes Garber was a minister and leader of the Flat Rock Church of the Brethren congregation.
Johannes Garber's name is sometimes given as "John H. Garber." Also, there are other Johannes Garbers that came to America. One signed a petition to the Pennsylvania Governor in 1728 asking for protection from Indian attacks. This individual probably was born in October 1694 and died in 1748 in York County, Pennsylvania. It is possible that this Johannes was the father of our Johannes. If so, according to Emmert Bittinger, the younger Garber probably came to America to assume possession of his father's lands.
Yet another Johannes Garber came to America on 28 August 1750 aboard the ship Phoenix.
